Internships
This is a three-month structured internship with specific responsibilities while learning about many aspects of Marketing, Advertising, and Radio Broadcasting. Longer internships are available upon request. Internships are available in fall, winter and summer terms. Our internships are unpaid. The Intern will help provide outstanding service to Asheville Radio Group clients, listeners and co-workers and assist in the generation of revenue, ratings and promotional execution – working with specific members of our team.
Duties may include:
· Assisting in the promotions department with live broadcasts, contests and off-air & on-air promotions.
· Assisting in the sales and marketing department with routine sales & marketing duties.
· Assisting the PD with preparation, research or follow-through for specific on-air programming.
· Assist with program director with board operator duties.
You are an important extension of our sales, promotions and programming team. You will know you are doing well when our sales team hits its total quarterly billing goal.
In return for your internship work, you will receive vast knowledge on the inner-workings of a radio station. Much of your “on the job” training will prove very useful in either helping to determine if a career in radio is right for you, or getting off to a fast start in your first paid position after graduation.
Internship Requirements: · Must have an interest in broadcasting, communications, advertising or related fields.
· Must be available 20-30 hours per week.
· Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
· Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
· Must be proficient with computers and specifically Microsoft Office applications
· Must have good oral and written communication skills.
· Must be willing to dress appropriately for applicable work roles and situations.
Credit:An Asheville Radio Group Internship is unpaid, but may make you eligible earn college credit. An Asheville Radio Group Internship supervisor will fill out the need paperwork and communications to accommodate your university’s needs to process your internship. As an Asheville Radio Group Intern, you will be expected to work 20-30 hours a week.
Future opportunities with the Asheville Radio Group will be dependent upon your review as an intern.
