Interactive Internship

This is a three-month structured internship with specific responsibilities while learning about many aspects of Marketing, Advertising, and Radio Broadcasting. Longer internships are available upon request. Internships are available in fall, winter and summer terms. Our internships are unpaid. The Intern will help provide outstanding service to Asheville Radio Group clients, listeners and co-workers and assist in the generation of revenue, ratings and promotional execution – working with specific members of our team.

Duties may include:

· Use Adobe Photoshop (resize images for web, simple photo editing, social media asset needs)
· Use Adobe Illustrator (design store signs, displays, stickers, etc)
· Plan advertising and promotions & promote new product launches and business initiatives.
· Support event marketing (signage, collateral).
· Develop in-store marketing and promotional collateral to increase customer engagement and drive sales.
· Write and design email campaigns
· Creative writing for blogs, social media posts, etc.

You are an important extension of our sales, promotions and programming team. You will know you are doing well when our sales team hits its total quarterly billing goal.

In return for your internship work, you will receive vast knowledge on the inner-workings of a radio station. Much of your “on the job” training will prove very useful in either helping to determine if a career in radio is right for you, or getting off to a fast start in your first paid position after graduation.

Internship Requirements:

·  Must have an interest in broadcasting, communications, advertising or related fields.
·  Must be available 20-30 hours per week.
·  Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
·  Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
·  Must be proficient with computers and specifically Microsoft Office applications
·  Must have good oral and written communication skills.
·  Must be willing to dress appropriately for applicable work roles and situations.

Credit:

An Asheville Radio Group Internship is unpaid, but may make you eligible earn college credit. An Asheville Radio Group Internship supervisor will fill out the need paperwork and communications to accommodate your university’s needs to process your internship. As an Asheville Radio Group Intern, you will be expected to work 20-30 hours a week.

Future opportunities with the Asheville Radio Group will be dependent upon your review as an intern.

Sales Internship

About The Asheville Radio Group
The Asheville Radio Group is a subsidiary of Saga Communications, Inc. and is comprised of Mix 96.5, The Mountain 105.9, The River 98.1 and ESPN Radio 1310 & 970 in Asheville, NC. Saga Communications, Inc. is a broadcast company whose business is primarily devoted to acquiring, developing and operating radio stations, television stations and state radio networks. Saga currently owns or operates broadcast properties in 26 markets across the United States.

About the Intensive Internship Program
Asheville Radio Group is offering a select individual the opportunity for an Intensive Internship in the Sales Department. While you will learn many aspects of marketing, advertising and radio broadcasting, this program is designed to be a meaningful hands on experience for a college junior or senior interested specifically in a career in Radio Sales. Much of your “on the job” training will prove very useful in either helping to determine if a career in radio is right for you, or getting off to a fast start in your first paid position after graduation.

This is a 10-12 week structured internship will be similar to a “job shadow” and the selected individual will learn real life responsibilities and skills specific to prospecting and working with clients for this radio cluster. This internship opportunity is available in summer or fall semesters and is paid.

Duties may include:

• Going through the RAB radio training course.
• Riding with sales people
• Assisting in putting presentations together
• Assisting in conducting C N A with a client (supervisor or seasoned sales rep will be with you)
• Learning about co-op and researching co-op for clients
• Assisting at Live Remotes

Internship Requirements:

• Must be a college Junior or Senior enrolled in an internship course at the college or university
• Genuine interest in sales within a broadcast company
• Must be available 20-25 hours per week.
• Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, work well under deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Must be proficient with computers and specifically Microsoft Office applications
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to dress appropriately within the company dress policy standards for applicable work roles and situations.

Credit:

The Intensive Internship at Asheville Radio Group Internship is paid plus you will you eligible earn college credit. The Promotions Director will oversee the Intensive Internship complete the necessary paperwork and communications to accommodate your university’s needs.
